Get your heating system running like new with expert power flushing from Go2 Plumbing & Heating Ltd. We restore central heating performance, improve energy efficiency, and extend boiler life across Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Preston, Southport and surrounding areas.
About the Service
Power flushing is a specialist cleaning process designed to remove sludge, rust, limescale, and other debris from your central heating system. Over time, the inside of your pipework, radiators, and boiler can become clogged with these contaminants, especially in older or unmaintained systems.
This sludge restricts the flow of water, causes cold spots on radiators, increases wear on your boiler, and leads to higher energy bills. Power flushing fixes these issues by using a powerful, purpose-built machine that pumps high-velocity, low-pressure water and specialist cleaning chemicals through your system.
This process breaks down and flushes out:
Once the debris is cleared, we neutralise the system, refill it with clean water, and add corrosion inhibitors to protect it long-term.
The Process
Here's a step-by-step breakdown of what our engineers do during a power flush.
We assess your boiler, radiators, and pipework to ensure power flushing is safe and appropriate for your system.
Our flushing machine connects to your system via a radiator or pump, then circulates a mix of descaler and sludge remover to break down deposits.
We use agitation tools to loosen stubborn sludge inside radiators, then flush the system one radiator at a time until the water runs clear.
Corrosion inhibitors are added to protect the system long-term. We also highly recommend fitting a MagnaClean magnetic filter to keep it clean for years to come.
Warning Signs
If your radiators are cold, your boiler is noisy, or your heating is underperforming, a professional central heating power flush could be the answer. Look out for these common signs:
Cold spots on radiators — especially at the bottom
Radiators not heating up fully or unevenly
Noisy pipes, banging, or kettling from the boiler
Discoloured or brown water when bleeding radiators
Boiler constantly needing resets or losing pressure
Heating system slow to warm up across the whole home
If you've noticed any of these signs, get in touch — we'll assess your system and advise the best course of action.

Power flushing is often the most effective deep-clean method, but depending on the age and condition of your system, there may be other options that are better suited to your situation.
Cleaning chemicals are added directly to your system, circulated with the heating on, then the system is drained and refilled with clean water and inhibitor.
A MagnaClean filter isn't a cleaning method by itself, but it helps prevent sludge build-up after a flush or re-pipe by continuously capturing magnetic debris as water flows through your system.
If you have microbore pipework, plastic pipes without inserts, or repeated issues despite flushing, a re-pipe may be the safest long-term solution — replacing old or problem pipework to restore reliable flow.
In rare cases — particularly with very old or poorly maintained systems — a new boiler installation alongside a flush or filter may be more cost-effective than repeated breakdowns and expensive repairs.
